Group Development and Action
At IPES, we encourage and support collective learning and accountability in order to produce diversity, equity, and inclusion leaders that can partner with us to make our communities more inclusive. For this reason, we have developed programs to guide those who wish to explore learning opportunities for larger as small as three (3) or as large as several hundred.
My Black Friend Says… Group Study Leader’s Packet
We have created a package that supports individuals who want to lead a group study using Heather’s book My Black Friend Says…: Lessons in Equity, Inclusion, and Cultural Competency. Our packet includes all of the information, handouts, and discussion questions that a leader needs to delve deeply into the topics addressed by the book. We also have suggested activities that will help your group to process information in depth, with compassion and empathy.
You can also purchase copies of the book for the members of your study group in packs of five (5). Each book is autographed by the author.
“Come to the Table”
“Come to the Table” is a program originally created by Heather to bring individuals of diverse backgrounds and experiences together in a safe space where they can get to know one another better over a delicious meal. Once per year, IPES sponsors a community-wide “Come to the Table” for all to attend.
Cannot wait until then? Let IPES plan and host this event for you! We will provide the framework for the event, help you select your menu, decorate the venue, and facilitate the discussions amongst your guests.
Speaking Engagements
Engage Heather Fleming so she can engage with your group, clients, employees, or volunteers! An experienced public speaker, Heather can speak to your group on a wide variety of topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, including sharing her personal story of how she became an equity trainer, developer, and activist in her community. She is known as a dynamic speaker who often encourages audience participation by making them feel comfortable and providing them with tools to positively interact with her and with each other.
